I recently found a few useful plugins (free with a couple commercial ones available). They're located HERE. I initially went looking for an easier way to make stars for a space scene and ran into "KY_Milky Way". It works wonders actually and would recommend it to anyone making starry sky's and such. The page is in German (i believe that's the language) but it's not hard to navigate to the download page of the plugins. The plugins i've downloaded are 32 and 64bit for 12/13. I think they offer all the way from Max 6 to 13. Enjoy!
